Buttermilk Biscuits: The Recipe!

Remember this delicious dessert from our most recent KTC event at Rick and Anne's? As promised, here is the biscuit recipe - courtesy of our dear William!

16 – 32 Biscuits (the biscuits are large enough that you could cut them in half if you were wanted smaller portion.
5 cups flour
4 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
2 tsp Salt
12 Tbl Butter (3/4 Cup)
2 cups Buttermilk (I use dry buttermilk because I can have it in the house all of the time and follow the directions on the box,)

Bake 450 degrees F. – 15 minutes.

Recipe that I make for myself – 1 very good size biscuit

1/4 plus 1 Tbl cup flour
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
1/8 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Salt
3/4 Tbl Butter
1/8 cup Buttermilk

Bake 450 degrees F. – 15 minutes.

Notes:
Play with the additions and see what you come up with, it’s great fun. Sometimes it’s great, and other times I can’t put the second bit in my mouth. I have put bananas, brown sugar and cinnamon on top and baked it and that was some kind of good (Bananas Foster).

*If one would want something sweet, add sugar, dried or fresh fruit of your choice and nuts (any or all).

*For something savory, add black pepper, herbs, cheese, chile - whatever you might think of.
